Major “service” rant

I am f_%(*#%^!@ing pissed!  I ordered some food from Toppers Pizza in Ontario and what a disaster!  This order was online to ‘avoid’ their usual order errors because they can’t seem to take it down correctly over the phone.  I ask for some extra dips (which showed up in the order tally, for which I was charged).  They come to my door without them of course (as it always happens).. then he’s like “I’ll be right back!”.  I had given him a generous tip on top of their outrageous $3 delivery charge. So fifteen minutes go by, then at twenty I decide to call.  ”OK it’ll be right out in the next twenty minutes,” (wtf? right… that would make the total wait time 40 minutes after I got my food).  So fifteen or so minutes go by and I decide to call again.  I tell the same stuff to the caller and tell him the case again.  He’s giving me all sorts of excuses like it’s coming etc., we’re very busy at that location, we have other customers etc…  I tell him well I’d like to speak to the manager.  He puts me on hold then comes right back on, “The manager left for the night blah blah..” I’m like you didn’t know he was gone?  Then he tells me he’s the shift supervisor.  So I tell him “I have a hard time believing you don’t have a manager at all.”  Then he slips up and tells me “they never work this late…” obviously the manager didn’t want to take my call.  I’m like WTF?  Where does that leave the other half of my order?  Then he gives me the crap on how they’re busy again and there’s other customers.  I told him I don’t care about your other customers, I was your customer before they called you and only received 3/4 of my order.  It’s not like I’m calling you for napkins here.  Do you expect all my guests to share one little dip?  Then he offers me to either wait for the dip, to have a manager call me tomorrow, or to give me a five dollar credit.  I told him I wanted all of the above.  He’s like “No, only one may be chosen,”… WTF!  Do they not realise the weight of a complaint?  How is it a five dollar credit when I paid 3 dollars for extra dips?  It’s not what conveniences you people.  I kept arguing my case and he said he can’t speak to me anymore and hung up while I was in mid-sentence.  So after we eat about twenty five to thirty minutes after that call, my friends go outside in the back after eating, I go to the bathroom.  I hear a knock on the door, I hurry the hell up, I run to answer door, the guy’s backing out of the driveway already.  On one hand, where are my dips, secondly, yes you should fear my wrath when it comes to food!

It’s not just that place these days.  Service sucks everywhere and they expect big tips for nothing.  I went to a greek eatery the other day (they have a drive-thru) and there was a thing for tips there… wtf?  I saw the same thing at a cafeteria a few months back… wait ten minutes in line (where you pay!) while your food gets cold and they have the nerve to have a tip jar.  If I pay money for something, I expect it done right.  If I were in that person’s position, regardless of salary, I’d do the best damned job I could (weird eh? …it’s called integrity).  So if I ask for something well done, or extra sauce, or what not, give it to me.  It’s not an ‘if there’s some to spare scenario’.  Charge me extra if you must, but don’t ignore the request.

The other day, I went to a restaurant, I asked for a refill (you have to pay $3 for a pop!), so I decide to take advantage…  I had a sip left.  She leaves, walks around the tables to see if everything’s alright (I’m like ok [slightly suspicious at this point]… maybe asking if they want refreshments too…), then starts to clean an empty table!  WTF!  I felt obligated to give her my minimum tip which is at least 20% of the bill usually.  But frankly, did she deserve it?  She had also *#$(@ed up my order.  Am I wrong leaving my minimal base tip?  Perhaps she doesn’t get how bad a job she did that way, or that delivery person from above.  With that server, I didn’t even get a table and I was a bud and his two kids.. he gave five… and we didn’t leave a mess!  So $8 tip total for some shitty service.

Seeing as I’m on a roll for bad service, let me say I’m recommending to friends, family and other Canadians not to use the Canadian Tire Roadside Assistance service.  My last car was pretty much finished, so I had to buy one.  I went to some place which is open unusual days of the year.  Anyways, I decide to buy this on a Saturday, so I decide to call my roadside assistance number to get it towed to my usual mechanic — they said when I got this that they would tow any car that was under my name anywhere anytime, regardless of situation.  I obviously wasn’t going to drive it without insurance or plates; and since the transport ministry is closed on weekends, I knew I could rely on the service… or so I thought.  So there I am outside this place in a bad area of town… was I really going to leave my new used car there for two days?  The guy was actually there with the tow truck and everything and they said no, WTF!  Then the woman on the phone (let’s just skip to the part where I speak to the manager) tells me I’m wrong and everything.  I just happened to have been with the friend who was with me at the store I decided to sign up for the service.  This friend remembered that the ‘associate’ had said everything about towing any cars under my name.  This still wasn’t enough.  And so I told them even if the associate is incorrect, they’re still representing the service for which I’ve already paid for and is in good standing.

I can see how everyone that can’t defend themselves don’t experience justice in anything.  When you have the evidence and witnesses and receipts and you’re blatantly called wrong and hung up on, business etiquette has never been lower… and frankly, not just in terms of business, but also for basic rights.  When the courts start dictating policy because politicians are too much of a pussy to pass contradictory laws that grant people their rights (like gay marriage, etc), and you have to fight for every shred of dignity that makes up your person, we’re heading for a dangerous impasse if this keeps up.

Whoa who wrote all this?  I just blanked out and typed.
